Upgrade…”when the phone

is already connected to my

computer?

WhenthephoneisnotconnectedtoMicrosoft Ofﬁce Communicator (because the computer

does not have Microsoft Ofﬁce Communicator installed, or has a version of Microsoft Ofﬁce

Communicator that does not support the phone), the “Sign in” or “Please Upgrade” messages are

displayed, and you can use the phone as an audio device only.

your computer.

• MakesurethatyouaresignedintoMicrosoftOfceCommunicator.

• MakesurethattheP540-MisselectedasthedeviceintheSetUpAudioandVideopageof

YoursoundsmightbesettoNoSoundsinWindows.ClickStart,clickControlPanel,andthen

double-click Sound to open the Sound window. Click the Sounds tab, and then under Sound

Scheme, make sure that you have selected something other than No Sounds. If you have chosen

a .wav ﬁle under Sounds, click the Test button to check that it works.
